     Stop threading beads and knotting 3 inches from end of thread.

     Measure pearl you wish to place next. Tie knot with both old string and new string on string. Place knot half width of pearl from last pearl bead. For example, if you are threading 6-mm pearl next, tie knot 3 mm from last knot.

     Trim small tail from knot left over from new string. Leave bulk of new string hanging from knot.

     Ream hole in pearl bead halfway through bead. A bead reamer is small round file that makes hole in bead larger. Ream hole large enough to fit over knot.

     Thread next pearl on both strings. Push bead until it is close to previous bead on string. Knot both strings together. Thread next pearl on string and knot both threads together.

     Trim old thread right next to knot. String next bead and continue with your project.
